The Penguin Book Of English folk songs (pub.1959) compiled by Ralph Vaughan Williams and A. L. Lloyd became the folk singer's 'bible'. Fellside released two CDs of songs from the book, FECD47(Linda Adams,Martin Carthy, JezLowe, Roy Harris and John Bowden) and FECD173 (A.L.Lloyd) so it seemed appropriate that when Penguin issued a new collection they should release a CD as well. Under the musical direction of the respected musician and singer, Brian Peters they have assembled three award winning singers who are at the forefront of the current folk scene. The result is a varied selection of songs given a variety of settings from full ensemble to solo.
