REPERTOIRE
With his DNA being firmly embedded within the Irish "gene pool" – Graham’s father was from Co. Cork and he still has two brothers and many other family members, which he visits frequently living in Ireland – Graham has certainly acquired a singing voice so typical of many from that Island. Clarity of voice and intonation along with a gift for sensitive interpretation establishes him as one of the finest voices around at the moment. See reviews for more information.
He began his singing during the "heady" days of the great chorus songs during the 70’s and he is always capable of springing surprises by dropping in the odd rousing chorus to lift hearts and voices during a performance, with some of them coming from the Cornish song tradition.
However, Graham is probably better known for his more sensitive treatment of material and almost stands alone as an English unaccompanied singer interpreting songs in a style more normally associated with singers from Ireland or Scotland.
Although passionate about the "tradition", Graham also has a wide repertoire of other songs written and performed in the traditional idiom enabling him to touch on more contemporary issues. Some of this material may again have a "Cornish" context, whilst other songs may have been authored by more well known writers such as Graeme Miles or Martin Graebe.
During the past two years Graham has moved into the world of accompanied song and has enlisted the help of two wonderful young musicians, Tim van Eyken and Rob Harbron culminating in the recent release of his first "solo" album – "In This Heart". Both musicians offer superbly arranged accompaniments to his singing and perform with Graham when required. On these occasions, a range of both accompanied and unaccompanied material is performed. It is likely that due to Tim’s own musical commitments, Graham will be performing more with Rob Harbron in the future who will support him on English concertina and guitar.
