This album is a delight from the opening song from Eithne, with the accompaniment weaving in to a slow reel, to the closing set of reels.

Gerry will be known to many as the fiddle player with Skylark, (indeed the personnel in this record is very similar to the Skylark recordings only with Eithne taking the vocals rather than Len Graham). Eithne has a rich voice with plenty of strength in the low register. Her singing with accompanying musicians of the calibre of Gerry, Garry O'Briain and Mairtin O'Conner is top class, and she is also a fine flute and whistle player.

The balance of instrumental sets and songs results in an album full of variety. Several of the songs are in Gaelic and so for the non Gaelic speaker the musicality of the performance is all important. No problems here where singing of this class would shine through in any language.

If you recognise some of the names in this review you will probably be tempted, if you don't know them but enjoy Irish music and song, then treat yourself to this, they don't come much better.
