This anthology from the catalogue of Foot Stompin' is subtitled "The Bright Young Stars of Scottish Traditional Music", which sums it up quite nicely, thank you very much. Tasters here for the likes of the Emily Smith Band, Back of the Moon, Cantrip, The Scottish Step Dance Company, Martyn Bennet and FSR's own Simon Thoumire and David Milligan are thoughtfully chosen to give a well-rounded and balanced sampler of the goodies on offer in the full catalogue. Whether your tastes run to unaccompanied singing, bagpipes, fiddles, Scots, Gaelic, traditional, contemporary, or whatever combination thereof, there will be something in here to whet your appetite for the original releases. As befits any sampler that is making an effort to advise foreign visitors that our real culture runs somewhat deeper than kilts, haggis and shortbread tins, it's encouraging to see that the cover has a short summary in four different languages.
