LEON ROSSELSON 'Turning Silence into Song' Fuse CFCD009

First new CD for about 5 years, he remains a splendidly unmellowed and rabid old git. Whether he points an accusing finger through new material at targets like Blunket or whether by revisiting older material and updating it -most effectively on the unerringly accurate 'Song of the free press' - he holds the attention through sharp writing that deploys anger, irony and wit in appropriate measures. Some of his long-term collaborators are here too including Martin Carthy, and Frankie Armstrong and its good to hear her singing the mock country 'I don't want your Red Red Roses', backed by Jody Stecher.

Incites the same admiration /enjoyment/emotions as Michael Moore. Put 'em on a stage together -now I'd gladly pay to see that one.
