| THE OLD TRIUMPH BAND "Bit of a Knees Up" Dancing Bear DB 089401 | ||||
|
The Old Triumph Band are an established dance band with a nice acoustic sound - melodeon, fiddle, bass and drums, with occasional brass and harmonica - with an injection from time to time of electric guitar and keyboard to give them a little more edge. They rattle through their repertoire of standard dance pieces - Fox and Geese, White Cockade - in fine style and give some numbers a distinct swing. Their version of Jimmy Allen is surely just for fun - I'd like to see our local crowd moving to that! For the interval, they have a couple of traditional songs and another pair of more-than-presentable original songs. They play with spirit and a hint of humour too, finishing this CD with a rock and roll parody, Robin B Hoode. If you're in the Midlands, keep an eye open for the Old Triumph Band and give 'em a try.
