Paul Anderson & The Whisky Olympics "Stream of Consciousness-
Live in Ireland"
- Fingal Records FINCD 504

This is an album recorded "live" at "The Meeting Place" in Cork. Paul Anderson on fiddle which was obviously a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the five musicians involved (Jim Reid has a special guest appearance). Better known tunes ranging from the "Jig o' Slurs" across a whole spectrum of favourites to the "Orange Blossom Special" sit alongside the lesser-known "Czardas", done mostly with spirit and verve.

And then there's Jim. As good as ever on all the songs he does here, his re-write of "Scots Wha Hae" whose intelligent lyric spells out clearly that there should be no need for "gory beds" in this new order, where "people power" has at last given us the political arrangements that we've dreamed of - more than clarting over our faces with blue Dulux and bawling "Freedom" could ever do.

Whilst the album overall may not be as significant as its advertising might

Suggest, it has many good moments and can clearly hold its head up.
