Cilla Fisher is one of the youngest Fishers, one of the most famous dynasties of Scottish song. Aged seven she was in concert, within a year she was on BBC radio. Folk club gigs followed with her sister Audrey, then concerts with the whole family and finally, a highly successful duo with husband Artie Trezise. Her next project, the children’s theatre company The Singing Kettle, is one of Scotland’s runaway successes – audio and video recordings, tv appearances and worldwide appearances and worldwide theatre tours have made her a household name. Her services to children’s music and theatre have brought Bafta and Prince Michael video awards, and finally an MBE. Fortunately, she still sings occasionally for adults. ‘What Can A Young Lassie?’ came from the repertoire of her sister Ray, and ‘The Sodger Laddie’ was given to her by singer and guitar virtuoso Brian Miller. |
